Rufus is likely the first resident you'll meet when you visit the sanctuary. He proudly shows visitors his beautiful feathers and will follow you around to make sure you acknowledge him in all of his splendor.
We are honored to be able to give Rufus the freedom to just be a turkey. Unfortunately, turkeys are among the most poorly treated animals used in food production and many are kept in small cages or sheds and bred to grow so big they can barely stand and are then eaten. Here at the sanctuary we are proud to give Rufus the space to be himself so that he can remind everyone who meets him that turkeys are friends, not food. Rufus wishes all turkeys had a wonderful life like him.
By becoming a monthly sponsor of Rufus, you will help care not only for her, but for all the animals who call the sanctuary home. Sponsorship's help cover the cost of feed, shelter and veterinary care.
